Alauda Aeronautics is set to establish the world’s first electric flying racing car factory in South Australia.

The cutting-edge factory is dedicated to manufacturing racing vehicles for Airspeeder’s forthcoming racing series and has been identified as a potential facility within the Australian Space Park. Serving as Australia’s inaugural specialized space manufacturing hub, this visionary project will receive joint funding from the Government of South Australia. Notably, the factory will also house the world’s first-ever production site for electric flying racing cars, further solidifying its pioneering role in the realm of advanced mobility. This strategic initiative underscores Australia’s commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancements within the aerospace industry, positioning the country as a key player in the emerging field of electric flying racing cars. The establishment of this state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to propel the growth and development of the air mobility sector.

The establishment of Alauda Aeronautics’ factory in South Australia is a testament to the expanding strategic and economic significance of the region’s space and aerospace sectors. Notably, the eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) industry is projected to surpass a value of $1.5 trillion by the year 2040. With a committed investment of $20 million (AUS), this state-of-the-art facility will serve as a vital hub for advanced development, engineering, and production activities. Moreover, the establishment of this factory represents just one component of a larger-scale endeavor to cultivate dedicated technology spaces, facilitating the growth and innovation. The move emphasizes South Australia’s commitment to positioning itself as a prominent player in the ever-evolving landscape of space technology and aerospace innovation.

Fleet Space Technologies – also co-founded by Alauda Aeronautics and Airspeeder CEO, Matt Pearson – will also establish its manufacturing and R&D hub in the same vicinity, paving the way for knowledge and facilities sharing with tech entities at the cutting edge of their respective fields.

Alauda Aeronautics has already proven its technological and commercial approach through the creation of the world’s full-scale first electric flying racing cars. Alauda Mk3 craft took part in historic debut test flights and the first-ever test race in the deserts that surround the firm’s current HQ in Adelaide. Certainly, South Australia has proven the perfect testing ground for a sport that is developing the fundamental digital infrastructure that will underpin the electric flying car mobility revolution.

The company has gathered a world-class team comprising of senior technical, design and engineering talent from Airbus,  Boeing, Brabham, Ferrari, McLaren, Jaguar-Land Rover and Rolls-Royce, and is now entering full production ahead of the first of Airspeeder’s EXA Series races in 2022. Airspeeder teams from around the world will take delivery of vehicles that represent the very first of their kind in the world.
